Dimitris Kallinikos-Tsousis or Arapakis, as he was called, was born in Preveza but lived in Athens. He was born berween 1890 and 1895 and he died between 1967 and 1970. He was one of the most important singers of his time.

Antonis Diamantidis or Dalgas was born in 1892 at Arnavutköy near Istanbul. He came to Greece after 1922. He was composer and most important singer. He recorded a total of about 450 songs in the years 1925 to 1940. He died in 1945.

    Sotiris Stassinopoulos

Sotiris Stassinopoulos was born in 1880 at Strezova (presently Daphne) in the Dara region of Achaia near Kalavryta. He is still remembered there under his nicknames Skendzos or Hardavellas. He went to the U.S.A. a little after 1900 and he made his first recording in 1921. From 1921 to 1929 he recorded 97 sohngs in the U.S.A. He died in 1960 in America. Quite exceptional singer.

            Samuel Baud-Bovy
A documentation of traditional music in Crete

A group of ethnomusicologists presided by Samuel Baud-Bovy (1906-1986) recorded in 1954 in Crete. The present edition contains texts relating to the field-work of the researchers unpublished studies on certain aspects of Cretan music and musical scores. The publication is accompanied by a double cd.
